Our History

WS Packaging Group, Inc. is an organization comprised of multiple facilities offering the widest array of printing and packaging with products and services as diverse as the following: pressure sensitive, litho, and in-mold labels, tags, durable/compliance labels, coupons, shrink sleeves, decals, folding cartons, DFU/IFU, printed tape, overwrap, response marketing items for direct mail applications, POP/POS, game and sweepstake printed products, thermal transfer labels, ribbons and printers, application equipment, patented products such as our MultiVision® extended text line, technical support, security tags, and RFID/NFC tags and systems.

WS Packaging is more than just a printer and offers unique innovation for customers as a provider of real packaging solutions through out-of-the-box thinking and engineering, giving their brands life. WS Packaging Group, Inc. was formed in October 2000 with the merger of Wisconsin Label Corporation, founded in 1966, and Superior Label Systems, Inc., founded in 1970. With this merger, WS Packaging became one of the top privately-owned label and tag manufacturers in the North America.

A further expansion of WS Packaging Group included the following acquisitions:

  • February 2001 - the three facilities of Label Art, Inc., specializing in short-run label production
  • February 2002 - Blake Printery, San Luis Obispo, California, well known for its high-end prestige label manufacturing
  • July 2002 - IdentiGraphics, Portland, Oregon, a digital printer for short to medium production runs
  • June 2003 - Gorilla Label, Phoenix, Arizona, a flexographic printer with an excellent regional client base
  • October 2003 - Concept, Inc., Carson City, Nevada, a manufacturer of high-speed label applicators
  • August 2004 - Promo Edge Company, Neenah, Wisconsin, a well-known manufacturer of promotional, gaming, and sweepstakes products
  • September 2005 - Ampersand Label, Garden Grove, California, a west coast manufacturer of patented extended text products
  • December 2005 - Renaissance Mark Narrow Web Division, Fullerton, California and Monterrey, Mexico, flexographic facilities and first international venture
  • October 2007 – Seneca Salem, Franklin, Pennsylvania and Salem, Ohio, a diverse flexo and litho printer specializing in shrink sleeve labels
  • June 2011 – Quality Label, Elk River, Minnesota, a flexographic printer
  • June 2012 – Consolidated Products, Knoxville, Tennessee, a flexographic printer specializing in RFID, UL, and compliance labeling
  • July 2012 – Boelter Industries, Winona, Minnesota, a flexographic and offset printer specializing in full-service, high-speed folding carton production
  • September 2012 - Business Graphics Printing, Knoxville, Tennessee, an offset printer for instructional booklets and inserts for end-use applications with strict regulatory requirements
  • January 2013 - Label World, Inc., Rochester, New York. a flexographic printer

Annual sales are approximately $450 million due to creative product innovation through its R&D staff, WebFlex™ online service, which enhances customers' daily business interaction with the company, and retention of long-term customers and employees. WS Packaging Group is able to serve customers in manufacturing, service, technical support, product inventory/warehousing, distribution, and the widest array of capabilities in the printing and packaging industry.
